BIO

I am trained in the specialty of Counseling Psychology, receiving my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from New York University and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. After earning my master’s degree, I practiced clinically for over a decade before returning to graduate school to obtain my doctorate. I have worked at various LGBTQA mental health clinics throughout NYC and have been the director of mental health services at a LGBTQA center in NYC. I have also worked at numerous university counseling centers, including The Stone Center at Wellesley College, Emerson College, UMass Boston, and Pace University. I completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship at The William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology. Currently, I am an Adjunct Professor at NYU where I teach graduate courses in Counseling Psychology.

I have been providing long-term and short-term individual therapy and couples therapy to a diverse population with respect to race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, and socioeconomic status for over 20 years. I work with a variety of presenting issues such as depression, trauma, anxiety, sexuality, racial identity issues, gender identity, relationship problems, vocational and career issues, developmental concerns, and stress management.

I have a special interest in and experience with issues related to race, culture, and diversity and trauma and recovery.

I specialize in working with the LGBTQA community.

My approach emphasizes genuineness, respect for the individual, and compassion and I strive to provide a safe and empowering environment for my patients. I work from a relational psychodynamic perspective, incorporating behavioral and eclectic techniques. I also have specialized training in Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT).
